Future History

What do we look for in our employers?  What makes it a good company to work for?  If the article recently published at money magazine is any indication money is not our only criteria.  More and more we look for the long term investment in ourselves, our society and our environment.  We include the things that bring a balance to our lives.  Many of the top 100 companies listed are taking proactive steps to support healthy lifestyles by offering fitness center memberships, yoga classes, professional life coaching and advisors, flexible work schedules and telecommuting options.

These companies are also supporting long term goals through social investment, promoting environmental health and incorporating sustainable business practices.  Practices that base the companies health and prosperity on long term achievable, sustainable goals rather than the quick payoff.  Imagine being paid to take time off to do volunteer work in the community or to take a sabbatical to help build a water treatment plant in Nigeria.  These companies look to creatively engage in business and by making sure that the employee’s voice is heard, challenging the employees to be reasonable and to use common sense  to be creative in their imagining of “future histories” in creating the business plan.

What would your “future history” look like?  What would your “future history” look like if you were to hold true to your dreams?  What are the possibilities of realizing your untapped potential?  Make the dream your future.  Realize your potential to create the history you want.

Peace Potential

There is No Way to Peace
Peace is the Way.

A. J. Maste

Peace is not the end game.  There is no way to get to peace.   It is not the goal. It is not a town just past the next bend in the road. Peace is or is not.  Peace is the way or the path that we must all envision.  It is the path that leads to prosperity, to joy, to growth, to living our lives fully.  Peace will come to the world when each and every individual intentionally takes on the dream to live in peace.  When each of us at each moment in our lives decide to manifest peace.  What keeps you from having this dream?  What keeps you from manifesting peace?  How might we remove these obstacles?

Why should we spend our energy creating peace?  What is the potential of peace?  What are all the possibilities of living in peace?

We Might….

Spend more resources on health services
Grow more food
Try new foods
Live longer
Have less stress
Have less disease
Have more resources to explore the stars
Have more time to explore our own world
Have more time to explore our spirituality
Make more art
Have less crime
Make new friends
Learn new languages
Travel more
Build more homes
See more of our sons and daughters grow old
Have a higher education standard
Laugh more
Eat out more
Create less toxic waste
Have a higher quality of life
End homelessness
Reclaim the African desert
Reduce our dependence on petroleum
Watch news that is uplifting
Live to our potential

Luck

He is so lucky. She has the luck of the ages.  Why so lucky?   What good is luck if you are in no position to put it to good use?  “If it weren’t for bad luck I’ld have no luck at all.”  Are you lucky?  How can you become lucky?

Seth Godin in his blog asked the question, “How willing is your organization to be lucky?”  The same question can be posed to the individual.  How willing are you to be lucky?  Do you put yourself in the position to receive luck?

Tough to catch a ball if my head is down looking at the ground.  Tough to see a diamond in the rock if my head is in the clouds.   Be present.  Now.  Here. This moment.  In this way we can increase our luck.  We can see what is coming our way.  We can listen to that inspirational voice that whispers in our ears.  We can kiss Lady Luck on the lips when she is right in front of us.

Be open to the possibilities. Some of the funnest and most rewarding work I have ever done was because I took a chance in a conversation, or because I walked down a different street one morning.  Luck does not just happen.  We are either listening or not.  Some of my greatest blunders were because I ignored lady luck whispering to me.

What might happen if I created more opportunity in my life?  I might get lucky!

Live In Potential

  • possible
  • capable of being or becoming
  • possibility; potentiality
  • a latent excellence or ability that may or may not be developed
  • someone or something that is considered a worthwhile possibility

From Dictionary.com

In the postings on this site I would like to open up to the possibilities, of what we as a civilization of people are capable of becoming, by finding and developing our excellence and bringing forth all the “someones and somethings” to share in the worthwhile possibilities.

Rather than exist in fear challenge yourself to exist in the joy of what we can do…what our true potential is! Our potential for compassion, our potential to help, our potential for creativity, our potential for growth.

Send me your thoughts, your stories of seeking and celebrating potential.
